From their earliest days in the Army Japanese soldiers were taught that their greatest honour was to ‘die for the Emperor’. As Allied forces grew even closer to Japan in the latter stages of the war the Japanese Army got ever more desperate to imbue their soldiers with the true spirit of the samurai.
