K&C’s CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

As is the custom now, every Christmas K&C releases a “special” set with a Festive theme relating to one of our different series. This year, 2007, with the release of the “1914” First World War range they felt we should remember the unique “cease-fire” that took place on Christmas Day 1914 when British and German soldiers organized an “unofficial” cessation of hostilities to celebrate the birth of Christ. Meeting in “No-Man’s-Land” the opposing troops exchanged simple gifts… shared each other’s drinks and rations and played a soccer match! Here is the scene… Father Christmas distributes gifts to a German “Fritz” and a Scottish “Jock” who, for a few short hours, enjoy the peace and quiet of Christmas day. Just 650 of these very special sets are being produced… order yours today!

Availability: Mid-October

RETURN TO THE BULGE

Another K&C custom at this time of the year is to release the latest “Winter” Germans and GI’s for the “Battle of the Bulge” series… This year is no different… Here’s the latest.

John Jenkins new releases October 2007

These are some of the hottest toy soldiers around at the moment amongst collectors, and as the quality keeps improving it is easy to see why.

Fraser Highlander, Light Infantry
Battle of the Plains of Abraham, 13th September 1759

The 78th Highland Regiment was raised in 1757; the Lieutenant Colonel was Simon Fraser. The Regiment served with distinction at the Louisbourg Campaign, and at the siege of Quebec. During the later part of the French and Indian War, the regiment had a company of light Infantry. These were men who were accustomed to fighting in woods and were good marksmen. The uniforms differed from the rest of the regiment; changes occurred due to the experience gained campaigning in the North American forests. The traditional highland kilt was cut down or replaced by what is known as the “philebeg” or “little kilt”. The coat was stripped of the decorative lacing and extra pockets were added. Also it became common to wear woollen or canvas leggings and moccasins, similar to what the Rangers and Indians wore and the cumbersome broadsword was replaced with an axe.
